Training Plan Visibility from Training Items

Assuming you are using training plans, here's a way to provide more training visibility from the training items.

Let's say you have an item category for Work Instructions that typically require training. These items may be on one or more training plans and have a number of associated training assignments. 

Here's how you can configure your Propel to see that information from the Item itself.

Which Training Plan(s) is this item on?

If the same item is often on multiple training plans, you may want visibility into which training plans a particular item is on.

  • Go to Setup -> Object Manager and click on the Item object link
  • Go to Page Layouts and click on the Item Layout link
  • Scroll down to the Related Lists section of the layout (or click Related Lists in the available data to add to the layout section)
  • Drag the Training Items related list onto the layout
  • Click the wrench for the Training Items related list to modify the visible fields
  • Move Training Plan and Plan Description (a custom formula field on Training Item whose formula is the Training Plan's Description) to Selected Fields and remove Name
  • Click OK
  • Click Save to save the page layout
  • Go to Propel Setup -> Admin Settings -> Items, and select the category that you want to see Training Plans on, for example Work Instructions
  • Go to the Configure Tabs section
  • Click New Tab and name it Training or Training Plans, and move "Item: Training Items" to the Visible Related Lists section
  • Click Create
  • Drag the new tab to where you want for it to display in the item
  • Click Save
  • Optionally, click Apply to Other Categories to have the same tab setup for other categories, or repeat the tab configuration for other categories
  • Go back to the User Settings section of Propel Setup and click Refresh Page Layouts
  • Go to an item of the category to see the new tab and data

List the Training Assignments for this item revision

If the item is only on one (or few) training plans, you might want to see the status of any assignments for that item revision.

  • Go to Setup -> Object Manager and click on the Item Revision object link
  • Go to Page Layouts and click on the Item_Rev Layout link
  • Scroll down to the Related Lists section of the layout (or click Related Lists in the available data to add to the layout section)
  • Drag the Training Assignments related list onto the layout
  • Click the wrench for the Training Assignments related list to modify the visible fields
  • Move any fields you want displayed to the Selected Fields
  • Click OK
  • Click Save to save the page layout
  • Go to Propel Setup -> Admin Settings -> Items, and select the category that you want to see Training Assignments on, for example Work Instructions
  • Go to the Configure Tabs section
  • Click New Tab and name it Training or Training Assignments, and move "Revision: Training Assignments" to the Visible Related Lists section
  • Click Create
  • Drag the new tab to where you want for it to display in the item
  • Click Save
  • Optionally, click Apply to Other Categories to have the same tab setup for other categories, or repeat the tab configuration for other categories
  • Go back to the User Settings section of Propel Setup and click Refresh Page Layouts
  • Go to an item of the category to see the new tab and data

Note: It's also possible to configure both related lists on one Training tab.
